Obituary for Donald G. Macdonald

Peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital on Thursday September 8, 2016. Donald Macdonald in his 91st year. Beloved husband of Jean (Statham) and of the late Marion (1987). Loving father to Lynne Macdonald (Dale McLean), and Lorie McCreary (Dan). Loving step-father to Catherine and Jim Montgomery, Patricia and Sandy Greig and James Statham. Loved grandpa to Connor Milton (Mallory MacLeod), Justine (Jesse Grosman), Thomas Montgomery, Lauren Lewit and Rachel McCreary. Pre-deceased by a grandson Logan Milton. Great grandfather to Grace Milton and Luke Grosman. Brother-in-law of the late Evelyn Reid. Born in Toronto, Don’s teaching career took him to Essex and Port Colborne before settling in Brantford. First at Pauline Johnson where he enjoyed his years as the Physical Education teacher and coach. Mid-career he became Principal at Pauline Johnson CVS and then at North Park Collegiate. Following his retirement he enjoyed golfing at the Brantford Golf and Country Club, travelling the world with Jean, and summers at the cottage. Don was a volunteer with the Health Council, a longtime member of the Probus Club of Brantford, a former member of the Brantford Y’s Men Club and the Rotary Club of Brantford. Friends will be received at the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Tuesday September 13, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at FARRINGDON INDEPENDENT CHURCH, 287 Mt. Pleasant Street, Brantford on Wednesday September 14, 2016 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Paul Tinker officiating. Cremation. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice appreciated.
