Joan Minnery - His Baby Girl
Dad: You fought in the World War II, you fought on the vice squad in London England, you fought when you found out Anne had polio, you fought the sea, you fought the conditions, you fought to bring your family here to Canada, you fought in the trenches, you fought digging ditches, you fought when you helped form the CCF party, you fought for Civil Rights, you fought for the formation of the NDP party, you fought the bigots, you fought the backlash against the Unions, you fought for the working man to get them Unions, you fought for the betterment of hundreds of Union deals, you fought for the Wilson family when Paul died, you fought for them again when Aunt Pat died, you fought for US when Uncle Joe died, you fought for US as you found John, your own first born dead and you fought for mom when she came down with 3 bouts of cancer, you fought for your daughters, your sons and you most assuredly fought for ME when BJ's world came upside down when his Dad left us 6 weeks after John died. THAT moment you put your hand on my back and put the phone receiver down and told me to hold my back up straight....you fought WITH me. You've been a fighter your entire life....these tales are tidbits of the battles you have fought and won. NOW...the battle is over POPS. You are OUR hero and obviously have left a legacy behind of being the most noble of Gentleman with the Jovial spirit matching your amazing blue eyes. We now march on in YOUR honour. We will continue the fight. One foot in front of the other. Rest easy Dad...
