Obituary for Jacobus Hendrik Muhlhaus

Jacobus Hendrik Muhlhaus
With profound sadness, the family of Jacob announce his sudden passing on Sunday, March 29, 2015, in his 86th year. In the care of his Lord, Jake will be eternally embraced by his loving wife, Nellie (2013) and his brother-in-law, Jozeph (2010). Jacob is survived by his youngest brother, Johan, and his eldest sister, Annie van der Loo-Muhlhaus. Both reside in the Netherlands. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Nancy Sherren (Brian), Susan Wilkinson (Trevor), and sister-in-law, Shirley van Emden. His memory will forever be treasured by his grand-daughters, Jennifer (Jefferey Birnie), and Marissa Smith (Martin). Jacob was blessed with the honour of being Opa to his one year old great-grandson Jackson Smith, whom he loved dearly. Jake travelled from the Netherlands to Canada, in 1952, with the love of his life, Nellie, to start their married life together. Jake, for over 25 years, was Chief Executive Accountant and Vice President of Finance for Agnew Surpass Shoe Stores Limited. He was a dedicated employee and passionate of his job. On retirement, Jake and Nellie were introduced to the sights and sounds of Las Vegas, Nevada. Jake was passionate about numbers and Las Vegas fit right into that passion. They enjoyed many trips together and embraced all aspects of what Nevada had to offer. Jake and Nellie met as teenagers and were married for over 60 years and loved life together. The family takes solace in the fact that they are once again reunited to be together for eternity. The family would like to thank the staff of Bluebird Terrace at St. Joseph's Life Care for their excellent care and compassion given to Jake. They would also like to thank Dr. Jeff Manning for his dedicated care to Jake over the years. Friends will be received at the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford, on Saturday, April 4, 2015 from 2-3 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel with Reverend Barrie Bain officiating. Interment will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery on Tuesday at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family of Jacob would like friends to express their love with donations to the St. Joseph's Life Care Foundation in his memory.
