Obituary for Peter Roy Hexamer

It is with sadness that his family announces his passing, thankfully relieved of his struggle to breathe. He leaves to mourn him, his wife of 53 years, Patricia (nee Atkin); children Tom (Michelle) and Ashley (Nathan Collver) Jakovljevic; grandchildren Marko and Mia Jakovljevic, their father Goran and Ryan Hexamer; grand- adults Jamie and Nick Koehler and Holly and Abby Collver . Predeceased by his parents Wynn Hexamer and Marvin; parents-in-law Beverly and Brant Atkin. Survived by his siblings Marilyn (Tom) Brydges, Laurel (Ross, 2010) Wells, Bob (Alethea), John (Joan), Don and Helen (Paul) Jeavons. Brother-in-law of Sandy Atkin, Jill (Ron Lake) Atkin and Len (Kim) McKay. He will be missed by nieces and nephews, dozens of cousins and a wealth of wonderful friends. No matter the role or size of a task, Peter always strove to give 110%. His energy and enthusiasm followed him in every endeavour from home repair projects, to his electrical business, to his time in politics, to his contributions on numerous community boards and committees, to helping a neighbour or cheering on his grandchildren. Peter lived with his own famous brand of gusto and leadership. At Peter’s request there was a private family visitation followed by cremation. A Memorial Service to celebrate a life too short but fully lived will be held at the TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. If desired, memorial donations would be welcomed by Brant Waterways or Waterford Heritage Trail projects, which were dear to Peter’s heart. Peter was great at offering advice – so we have given him the last word; “When working with asbestos, wear your respirators.”
